Go to this website: http://www.schraderelectronics.com

They make the 2000 and up sensors. Check the photos and see what your sensors look like.

ummmm, :nono: that would be 2001 and up. not 2000 and up.
'97-2000 sensors are the same

edit>>> I guess I read that too fast. I see what you're saying now :banghead:

Oh, :nono: :nono: :nono:

I wasn't talking about sizes, model year differences, or "sameness." I was speaking to the manufacturer of the sensors. That's who the link I referenced is for:

As I stated, Schrader Electronics makes the 2000 and up sensors. Here's a picture for you:

2000 sensor (the "old large" one)

2001 and up (the "new small" one)

GM part numbers and list prices are as follows:

'97-00: Sensor PN 10438853 $126.25; Retaining Nut PN 10268439 $1.88; and O-ring Washer PN 10268438 $1.88.

'01-current: Sensor with O-ring PN 2571358 $80; Retaining nut PN 25708165 $3.68.

Hope this helps. :smash:

Actually both generations of sensors are made by Schrader-Bridgeport Inc.
hence the SBI on the mfg label.
The advice given above is correct you have the smaller sensors 01-04 and need to swap out to the earlier version for your BCM/TPM/RFA to hear them when you are training them up.

I may be splitting hairs, but I only commented on the 2000 and up sensors. I don't have any experience with the earlier sensors, so did not want to speculate on who made them. The part numbers are the same, so I should have assumed they were made by the same manufacturer.

Nice RV-4, BTW; glad to see some still fly conventional(ly). Since you're in Washington, have you been to the factory?

Just so we are all on the same page the part numbers don't change until 2001?

1997 - 2000 10438853 sensor 10268438 seal 10268439 nut
2001 - 2002 25648293

That's correct, the part numbers change in 2001. Because the part numbers are the same for the first four years, doesn't mean the manufacturer was the same the first four years. Part numbers are not necessarily tied to a particular manufacturer, only to the part on the car.

For example, 2002 Z06 wheels are made by both Alcoa and Speedline; the part numbers are the same, nevertheless the wheels are different in both manufacture and appearance (forged vs. spun, angular vs. more rounded spokes, darker color vs. lighter color). And the Speedlines even weigh less, all with the same part number. I went through this issue when I bought my OEM wheels from Fichtner.

I only know that Schrader made the 2000 sensors, and made the 2001 through 2004 sensors. I don't know if the earlier one's were made by someone else (like, say Beru); hence, I originally posted that Schrader Electronics made the "2000 and up sensors," because I didn't know that the "1999 and down" sensors were made by them, even if the part numbers are the same.

Just like I wouldn't post that all Z06 wheels are made by Speedline, only that some of the "2002 and up" wheels are made by Speedline. :banghead: :banghead:

You need different sensors your car will not recognize the ones you have.

'97 to '00 were the same, then '01 - '04 are the same. Your system will not recognize the '03 sensors.
