What you want is a 'mushroom' repair. Both a plug and a patch. Mentally picture a mushroom. The plug ensures that no moisture will enter the tread to rust any of the wire structure in the belt, and the patch prevents air loss.
Got a screw in the middle tread area. (rear tire) Is it safe to remove and plug........Thanks in advance for replys

:iagree: Used to work at a tire shop. This is the best method.
Sorry, I probably didn't explain it well. It's actually two steps. First plug the tire, and trim the plug flush on the inside. Then put a patch on the inside, over the plug area.
Bill / jeremytsi Where can you find that kind of patch?? I have a new motor cycle tire that needs a patch and I am looking for that kind of patch!!

EMT repair kit from STS. It is both a plug and patch. There is no loss of speed rating as per goodyear. I got the flat when the tires had 3k on them. I had gone 177 and numerous runs over 150mph after the repair. I sold the tires after 12k and never had any problems with the repair.
No problem; my Chevy dealer has patched one in the front and one in the back. I wouldn't push the speed rating though. If it wasn't done well you would have a slow leak. As for the motorcycle, I have two, I wouldn't do it. I haven't found any motorcycle shops willing to do it. Just get a takeoff or buy brand new.
I can tell you that I have had a plug in mine the first week I bought the car and have had them plugged probably five times and not a problem .
Good luck as it sure is a bummer to have to plug a tire the first week. :mad
