Default gas leakage

Just bought a 2000 coupe and when I went to fill it up I noticed some gas leaking at left wheel. Didn't show on the inspection because the tank was 1/4 full. I've heard of a y-pipe problem and some bad gas tanks on this year. Anybody else had this problem and what can I expect to pay to fix it? Should I go to a dealer or an independant shop? Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't heard of the problems you mention. How long ago did you buy the car, if it was very recent than I say take it back and if it wasn't then definitely let the dealer do the work.
Your car has 2 seperate gas tanks with a pipe that connects the 2 tanks, disconnecting this pipe can be tricky if you've never done it before.

I bought the car last Thursday from a private party, and I don't believe I have any recourse with the seller. It was an as is deal after an inspection by a mechanic. I think I will take your advice and let a dealer do the repair. Kinda pissed me off becaue the seller probably knew about it and kept the tank at 1/4 full so the leak wasn't able to be detected. Otherwise the car is great, just going to cost me another $1000 to fix.
