35k on the clock and it was way overdue judging by how the old plugs checked out.
The threads on the driver's side rear plug was soaked in oil, and all of the driver side plugs were at .060, but with significant deposits on the "finger".
The passenger side plugs were all at .065! No wonder I was getting a hint of shake at idle even with a stock cam!
All plugs exhibited signs of detonation, but were mercifully not indicating rich or lean operation. Since I've only had the car a few months, I can only conclude that the previous owner(s) ran crap gas in the car. Grrrr. :mad
I threw in a set of NGK TR55's with the gap set at .055 and cabled them with Taylor Thunder wires and the car runs significantly better. The ticking I was hearing on the passenger side is now gone and idle is much smoother. (Duh!) I can feel an improvement in driveability and the tires break loose easier.
I had planned to put off installing these until after I put the Kooks in, but TSP continues to disappoint in being able to fill my order or give me a straight answer on ETA, so I decided to put them in now. Sure glad I did.
Kudo's to Thunder Racing for getting these to me 3 days after I ordered them. When it comes time to spring for a cam, I'll be much more likely to go with one of their offerings for that reason.
Oil fouled plugs etc???? these plugs are designed for 100,000 miles...
you must have other issues...
I decided to change my plugs at 50,000 miles... it was a waste of time and money.. the plugs looked great... all within spec, and looked even, color wise....
I changed mine to Delco irridiums. The main reason was even tho I bought the car used and it only had 23500 on it I was curious about the plugs condition. It is a bit of a pain to do but Ive seen worse. As it turns out two of the plugs were missing the little pucks bottom part. I didnt want to chance any more of them going away and I can only hope that they went out the exhaust. I havent driven it enough to notice much of a difference tho. But new plugs are a cheap performance upgrade if you are going with other than stock. I will probably do the wires next. :steering:

I did this on my other GM vehicle with platinum plugs
BTW Thunder racing is a great place to do business
