I have had my hurst for about a year, ever since the installed, I have experinced hard to shift into second, all the rest all the gears are fine. It seems like it would go into second gear half way sometimes, but, it was really not in gear and the rpm just revs up. so, now I really have to give it more effort to jam it into second. Anyone else has experinced this problem, please help??
First, since you've had this problem since the install, it's possible that the rear stop is not properly adjusted. Did you leave the stops in during the install? If so, did you adjust them according to the instructions? Re-check the install with particular attention to the stops.
Second, it's possible this was a pre-existing condition to the install but was exacerbated by the short-throw, non-damped Hurst. The synchro would be suspect in this case. One thing you could do is to re-install the stock shifter to see if the problem is eliminated. You'll notice that, with the Hurst out of the car, there is no resistance to movement when you roll the shaft around it's pivot point so the only contribution to increased shifting resistance comes from the shorter throw.
Make sure you dont use the positive stops supplied by Hurst. If you did, take them out asap. The T56 tranny already has them and could prevent you from putting the shifter all the way into gear.

Do all T56 transmissions have the stops? I remember reading somewhere that from 2003 and up the trannies have this stop. I'm sooo confused
Yes, the stops are built into the T56. Hurst recommends using the stops only in extreme applications, e.g. racing. If you're planning on banging the gears in the 1/4, you should probably adjust the stops and loctite them in. Otherwise, pull them out.
The stops on my dad's kirban are in and adjusted and we haven't had any problems getting it into gear. We just backed the stops all the way out, put the car in gear, and screwed them in until there was about a notecard's width bewteen the bolt and the shifter handle. Been that way for 10K miles now. No problems.
I've had the stops in for 30K miles with no problems.
But I've also had the transmission worked on under warranty twice. Once was a problem with it popping out of gear in 3rd and 5th and the other was with synchros and the car grinding when going into 5th at about 70 mph. So there is always the possibility that it is a transmission problem.
