Training new remote?
I followed the instructions I found on here about training a new remote. I only got one fob with my car (the #2 I think), and I bought a #1 online. It's the right part number, and the battery is good (I swapped batteries just in case).
This is what I tried: turn car to On (but not started). Hit reset to get rid of Door Ajar message. Then cycle through options till I get a blank DIC. Hold reset till I get FOB TRAINING. Then I let go of reset. I held lock/unlock on the fob for a good 45 seconds and nothing. Then I tried holding reset and lock/unlock on the fob for another 45 seconds. I tried it a good few times, got nothing. Am I doing it wrong? Or am I gonna have to go after this guy for selling me a bad fob?

That proceedure doesn't sound quite right. It's in your owner's manual.

To match transmitters to your vehicle:
1. Turn the ignition key to ON.
2. Clear any warning messages on the Driver
Information Center (DIC) by pressing the
RESET button.
3. Press the OPTIONS button on the DIC several times
until the blank page is displayed, then press and hold
the RESET button for two seconds.
4. When the message FOB TRAINING is displayed,
push the RESET button once. The message
HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB in the DIC
will be displayed.
5. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on
the transmitter simultaneously for 15 seconds.
6. When a transmitter is learned (matched), the DIC
will display FOB LEARNED and then prompt you
to learn the next transmitter.
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for each additional transmitter.
8. Remove the key from the ignition.
The programming mode will shut off if:
You donÂ’t program any transmitters for two minutes.
You take the key out of the ignition.
You have programmed three transmitters.

Happily enough, I had the 2nd one that came with the car and it took the procedure find and works ok.
So I'm not sure what the problem is but I tried it 4-5 times with no luck whatsoever. The suggestion above about taking it to the dealer sounds like a good idea.

The battery connections in the fobs are a known source of problems! Take a close look at them and make sure that they are clean and make good contact with the battery. I used an ink eraser and buffed up the contacts and bent the contacts to make better contact in one of my fobs that had intermittent operations. It took care of the problem!
Be careful the contacts are easy to break off so do not bend them too far!
