You almost have to have a new set of wires ready to go when you do the first spark plug change on a C5. My experience is that 2 or 3 of the original wires will break during removal. After that, with generous application of grease under the boots, the wires shouldn't break. I went with the red Delco wires 'cause they're pretty cheap and I don't have anything fancy under the hood that would justify going with the fancier wires. :)
