Default Feedback Wanted on Comp 918 Springs

Rated for lift up to .600 I'm developing concerns over running this spring with stock LS6 heads and a .581 lift cam. Busted springs or a broken stock 2 piece valve are really unpleasant ideas! Any feedback or speculation?

Yeah I know 1 pc replacement valves and double springs would solve the issue but I'm limited in my deficet spending!

Would a .563 lift cam be significantly safer / reliable if matched with the 918 springs?

i did a lot of research on them myself and found that ever since that bad batch issue there have really been no problems. Just make sure they are blue striped. If not make sure you know when and where they came from. You should be fine. I'm about to run the same lift with those springs but on LS1 heads..

Do these springs (918) fit the stock spring pockets or do the heads need to be machined, I have a set of 978 springs, retainers and locators but the heads need to be machined to fit these springs.

The 918s are a very good single spring and they will fit the stock heads without machining but i myself would spend a little extra $ and get the best dual springs that money can buy, the new comp 918s good up to .650 lift and also fit the stock heads without machining. The extra protection you get from running a dual springs vs. single spring if there is a failure would make getting a dual spring an easy decsion for me!
