Anyone know where the little plunger things (2) sit under the switch? I pried the button out, and the plungers underneath moved. Now I have the whole thing out and apart, and I still don't know where to put the plungers back in. :banghead:
There is a harness it plugs into, there shoudl be three total, one is for the center council cig lighter, another is for the gas tank release, and the third harness is for TC. Take out your center council and youll see em

If you took the switch apart I would buy a new one. If not I have no friggen clue as to what you are talking about.
I took mine apart too. Its not difficult, just counter intuitive. The little cups provide pressure when against the button when pushing on the traction control button. They go suction cup side (although not really a suction cup) down in the two outer indentations that you should see. I'm writing this from memory but I think I remember three indentations, use the outer two. The middle one does not get used. Don't panic. If you don't get it right the first time keep experimenting by almost puting the switch back together and connecting the harness then turn on the ignition then try to deactivate the traction control. Do no need to buy a new switch. I can only imagine what that would cost
The instructions that came with my shifter said, "Insert screw driver behind TC switch and gently pry upward." What they obviously meant was, "Insert screw driver behind TC switch cover plate." So, of course, the very first thing I touched during my shifter install, I broke. :banghead:
I took my TC switch apart intentionally. I wanted to make some modifications to the switch cover but did not want to damage the internals with heat or overspray.
Anyway glad if I helped. There is no need to buy a new switch
What made you take it apart in the first place?

There is plenty of "how to" info on this and other sites about a shifter install. Read first and avoid these type of problems! :flag Its interesting to see that at least two people have taken the switch apart!?!

I did read the instructions. Twice. Even though it went against every ounce of my engineer-ness. They were just wrong.
Before lecturing others on reading, you should read carefully. ONE of the "at least two people took the switch apart " took that switch apart intentionally for other reasons. As for the other guy, anyone can make mistakes. The purpose of this board is to make others feel at ease in asking technical questions
