Default BeCool vs. Dewitts Radiator

Anyone try both of them or have any opinions on which one is better? The Dewitts is much cheaper, especially with the 15% discount going on right now. Also, the Dewitts is supposed to be a direct fit (not sure about the BeCool). Seems like more people have the BeCool though.

Your right about more people having the Be-cools. That's because we just started making these a few months ago. Before that all the big catalog guys (ie Ecklers & Auto Accesories) only handled Be-cool.
I can't say anything about be-cools' fit but I can say that ours does! I installed the first one to make sure and there is a thread in the archives on that project. This one is a pretty complicated radiator due to the thicker core and tight area to mount, but it works well. We are looking at the C5 as two (2) models right now due to the different Transmission fittings. The radiators are the same from 97-2004 but the trans cooler connections went metric on 2002 and up. So the 97-2001 is a "Direct Fit" (a term we trademarked) and the 2002-04 is supplied with adapter fittings.

Thanks for the response Tom. I remember when you first debuted your radiator on the forum so I figured that most of the reason people had BeCools was because yours just came out recently.

I am wondering though, objectively, what are the differences between the two radiators?

Does the MN6 version have an option for a Oil Cooler? Or is it included? Building a 408 Stroker and I figure that a bigger rad is a must. Also any comments on the billet electric water pump with your rad? Thanks :)

I bought a radiator from Tom during his first GP back before Christmas. I can tell you it does fit very well and works even better. I have a stock thermostat and run about 195 degrees regardless of how hard I'm pushing it.

Objectively huh....Coming from the manufacturer that's almost impossible isn't it?

Well again I really don't know of any problems with the Be-cool so I can't comment on the fit. Since there are so many out there maybe someone else can chime in on what their experiences where.

Both are a double row furnace brazed cores, so cooling should be the same. We use a "press formed" end tank that provides smooth round corners and no tig welded edges like you would have from a fabricated box tank. I think this makes the radiators look better but then again the C5's are impossible to see installed. Following our product line name "Direct Fit" I spent hours laying this out so nothing had to be modified and the stock mounts and hoses were reused. You do have to make two very small notches in the fan shroud but this is very minor and instructions are included. That's it

Forgive my egnorance but I'm not up on the late model lingo. I don't know what a MN6 is...but if that's the transmission cooler, we do offer one. I have had people ask about engine oil coolers but things are so tight on that model already I don't see any where to put one.

As far as water pumps go, I'm not a big fan of super high flow add on's but in this case a higher flow pump would be welcome. You see turbulant flow cools better than laminar flow and since we have doubled the capacity inside, a higher flow pump would have an increased effect.
