Just got my shipment in and they are sweet looking!!!!!Thanks Aaron Lephart for making some really nice brakes.Everyone should check them out @ http://www.stopforce.com Theses pics don't do them justice:
I've had these brakes for a year. They've done about 20 open track days and still have some life left. I just bought a second set of rotors from the local Porsche dealer to replace the originals when they finally give up the ghost.
I had the second set cryo treated from performance Cryogenics (Lyle Moore: http://www.percryo.com) at $35 per rotor.
I tried using the OEM rotors which are inexpensive (www.gmpartsdirect.com) & fine for non-track use, but which cracked after 2-3 days on the track.
Hampton:
Glad you like the rotors! Your going to love them even more if and when you decide to take your C5 to the track. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Tom:
Glad to see you are enjoying your rotors as well!
John:
Keep pushing those brakes. I usually pride myself on how hard I am on the brakes, but I think I come second to you.
Of course I’m also thrilled to see 3 happy customers post back to back. In the Corvette world the amount of rotors we have sold (120 pairs) is a drop in the bucket versus how many C5's are out there on the road. Proof once again what an invaluable resource this forum is, both for customers and businesses.
I was just about to post a thread about alternatives to the Baer kit as I was concerned about their long term durability. I am by no means a regular at the track, by I try to hit up as many local SCCA events as I have time to. This Stop Force set up looks like what Ive been looking for. What pads do you guys reccomend for street/occasional auto x use??? Thanks!!
Does anyone have a picture of the KVR rotors in the back with the Stopforce rotors in the front? I really want to get the these rotors but want to make sure the rear wheels look good too.
I see lots of posts on the Forum and elsewhere about the folly of buying expensive brake parts and advocating cheap OEM replacements. Some of them come from guys who've spent a bundle on go-fast motor parts and are now trying to save on the parts that make you go 'whoa'.
If you're just cruising the strip or enjoying the occasional blast down the 1/4 mile, I can understand the logic. But if you need to make it stop from 100+ 50 times in 30 minutes, it makes no sense to me.
I'll be giving the novice classroom lecture at an HPDE later this week and I'll remind students that the most powerful pedal in the car - by far! -
is the brake pedal, not the gas, and that it generates the equivalent of 1500 HP in most street cars.
Everyone chuckles at the expression, "Don't brake until you see God!". I can tell you that if you do brake at 130 mph and there's no pedal under your foot, you may indeed see God and the encounter will not be pleasant.
When I'm asked what are the best mods to do, my canned answer is, the driver, brakes, tires, suspension, then motor.
However, as we all know, you can only lead a horse to water .....

BTW, I'm going to need an extra set of 'hats' soon; I'll let you know.

I'll have a pic,but it won't be for 2 weeks. My new wheels and tires should be here some time next week, but I'm going on vacation again next week.So I'll post pics in a couple weeks!!!
I get mine tommorrow. :D If only CA wasn't so far away from FL :mad I would already have them! Now I won't be able to get them on until next week. Good thing I am not racing this weekend. :D

Red Gump - Check out the StopForce website for loads of good info on rotors. Also, on that website, you'll see a reference to KVR rotors for use on the rear, and an explanation why.
It's not common that a manufacturer will refer you to someone elses product. Aaron at StopForce says the expense of a StopForce rotor with cast (not drilled) holes is not needed on the rear, so a "normal" drilled rotor will work just as well.
I have a set of StopForce for the front, and will be putting them on my brothers '03 AE in a month or so. We also got the KVR's for the rear. The rear rotors came from Strano Auto Parts in PA. (www.stranoparts.com). We also got the GM Ceramic pads from Fred Beans (a forum supporting vendor).
All 3 vendors, Stopforce, Strano Auto, and Fred Beans, were super to deal with!
