I just purchased my 2001. When driving at speeds over 40 MPH the car has a tendancy to pull into the low parts of the road. It's almost as if it's pulling into the part of the road where the pavement is lower due to heavy travel. This is my first vette and I'm really concerned. I know I'm not imagining this. Any ideas-suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Help- my steering feels strange?? (silverz06vette)
I checked the tire pressures. The fronts were at 26 and rears at 27 cold. I'll make the adjustment. Also I wasn't aware that the wide tires had a tendency to follow the ruts in the road. I was concerned there was a major problem. What a relief!!! Many thanks for the quick response.
When I first got my C4 I almost had an accident while I was going through a construction area on I-26 in Charleston SC. There were concrete barriers on both sides of a one lane bypass and the road transisitioned across two lanes. The ruts in the road caused the car to (ALMOST) pull into the barriers!
I got new tires and an alignment which helped some but like it was stated above :iagree:,, wide tires will try to follow irregularities in the road surface. It took me a while but I got use to it and I compensate for it without even thinking about it! :D
If you think you have a problem, try to test drive another C5 and see if it feels the same! It could be an alignment problem. If you do get an alignment, make sure that they align the FRONT and the REAR of the car!!!!
