I wanted you cam experts out there to give me some grind spec suggestions for the following cam characteristics:
Better low and mid range, about the same or better top end.
(I do most of my driving under 4500 rpms!)
Good Idle, not on the lopey side.
Must be able to pass CA smog!
you will get a lot better idle characteristics if you don't get the reverse split cam, because of the exhaust valve size compared to the intake. I had a 220/224 561 566 114 The larger the lsa the better the idle also. It has been my experience that the larger the lsa the better it does on top end, and you may loose a little down low, so you may want to go with a 112. I picked up 25 hp with that cam. Good luck
I just installed a comp cams 220/220/.581/.581 on a 115 LSA, advanced 2 degrees to 113 ICL. Idles well at 800 but has a slight occasional shake. It's a tad bit louder (than with headers) and sounds awesome at WOT. No Lope. Performs well in the mid-range and keeps on pulling until 6600 RPM with no drop off. This is with stock heads. It's a great small cam
comp cams 220/220/.581/.581 on a 115 LSA sounds like the cam for you.
a 220/220/.570 might be better yet. your search for power down low typically means more cubic inch or a magnacharger. gears will give a nice punch something like 3.73 with the auto
