I am also going to be running the ASP underdrive with my rollmaster. I have seen varied answers on getting the underdrive machined down to compensate for the 3mm spacers that are required by the timing set.
I need some direction if it is absolutly necessary or if it may work or may not. I want to finish the assembly of my motor from the cam swap this weekend and I don't want to be held up by this step while I still have to time to take care of the machining this week
Re: ?? for those running the Rollmaster (Ruby6spd)
My experience has been that some C5's had and some haven't had interference and that the f-body guys don't have a problem. I had mine and a buddy's machined just to be safe and not it have to stop us in the middle of the h/c process.
It just doesn't make sense to me that some would require it and some wouldn't.
My concern goes both ways. If I don't have it machined it will seat a little to far from the face of the crank and the belts will not run in the correct plane. If I have it machined I can run into the same problems and then have to put a spacer on the pully if that becomes the problem.
I am going to give a few tuners a call to see if they might be able to shed some light.

That's not how the mod works. As you can see from the pic below, the shoulder, Dimension "A" in the pic below, is simply increased by 3 mm to make room for the oil pump being moved foward 3 mm. The length of the pulley doesn't change one bit. Doing this modification changes nothing other than creating clearance for the spaced-out oil pump. The position of the pulley relative to the crank snout stays exactly the same as if you had the stock chain in there. Study how the relationship of these parts changes before going any further so you understand what you're going to be doing. Remember that the RollMaster is designed such that the position of the belts on the pulley remains the same as stock. :yesnod:
Iflubyu, some people are saying they had the problem and some arn't. I had it done before so that I would avoid the problem all together. I didn't want to get stuck when reassembling the engine
