If you guys have your TB ported make sure you can check your A/F ratio so that you don't lean out. Auto's are more prone to lean out to much. Just a thought.
Thanx for all the interest guys!!!! I will be glad to help you all out. As for actual dyno gains it has been said that theres not much to gain on a stock (bolt on) Z06/C5.. I will port a TB tomorrow @ the shop and do a back to back dyno stock Vs ported and post the results. I have seen up to 14flywheel horsepower on F body TBs so I dont see how Y bodys wouldnt like the additional air.... I will have results posted by Tuesday .I do not want ANYONE to pay for something that isnt going to show a gain be it at the track OR on the dyno!!!!!
AF wont be affected by a ported TB. the maf measures the incoming airlfow and will compensate for any additional air the TB is allowing into the engine....
Going to emails now. I was @ SDR all day for the F body shootout
I'm running one of Ron's TB's too... I almost wanted to display it on my coffee table instead of installing it on my car it looked so good!! Awesome piece of work.. best $100 I ever spent on my car.
Can you or anyone else comment on this I got in an email???
I plan on sending mine in, but would like to hear your thoughts on what I just received....
"Porting the TB is not the real issue, the real issue is the fact that there is simply more air on top of the blade than below and Chevy uses a 12 deg angle for the neck of your manifold vs. the vertical location of your TB, these are the two factors that really kill the ported TBÂ’s on these cars.
When these guys flow they flow on a bench that is strait and level ( your manifold neck is not) they donÂ’t flow with the intake system in place , they simply go for a peak number but nothing under the curve it simply seems to them to be a streamlining thing, when it is not, it is an fundamental flow problem. "
I will be glad to comment. .... Theory and speculation are different than reality. Ported TBs let more air in the engine and creat more hoserpower ACROSS THE ENTIRE RPM range. I will have graphs posted tomorrow evening hopefully backing my statements. Stay tuned.....
FWIW, I have never measured the angle on the intake, but the TB mounts directly to the intake neck so...... if the neck is @ 12 degrees wouldnt the TB be as well??
I posted a new link with pics. Sorry for the blurr vision but my digital camera could use some upgrading :D :D Dyno was closed this evening, Ill strap the car down tomorrow for back to back comparisons....
