ls1 vs ls6 heads
i have a chance to buy some very low miles 03 z06 heads, what size valves does my stock ls1 heads have, and what size are in the 03 z06 heads.................thanks

1997 and 1998 ls1 heads have a 66.67cc combustion chamber volume, a 200cc intake port volume, and 70cc for the exhaust port volume. the 99-2003 ls1's are the same, but have a different part number, i think for something that had to do with the intake possibly. the ls6 heads are 64.45cc, 210cc, and 75cc respectively. the forum is rubbing off on me! :steering:
the compression ratio for the ls1 is 10.1:1 and the ls6 is 10.5:1
the reason the part numbers are different is because of a switch from perimeter to center valve cover bolt configuration for the 99's and up. each style has dedicated valve covers and coil pack mounting apparatus. milling the deck of an ls1 head .030 will give 10.9:1. the ls1 heads are also very good heads.
