Rule of thumb everyone uses is 15% on six speeds and 20% on A4's--if yours is six speed your 385 should convert to 327rwhp, A4 (auto) 308rwhp--the stock unit is about 350 at the flywheel--you can air a blackwing and couple of small items to get to 385--you say you built your engine are you sure you didn't build it more for 385 at the wheels?

The rule-of-thumb used on C5 is 15% loss in the M6/M12 trannies and 20% for an A4 tranny. I don't know the figures for your C4. Perhaps a post on the C4 board?
