Just flow tested a stock 02 ZO6 Air Cleaner assembly, results are listed below. All test flows are corrected to 10" H2O. The throttle body used was a stock standard LS1 75mm mechanical design. I also flowed my 02 ZO6 body stock and modified. Pics should follow:
Throttle Body LS1 (Stock) = 541.8 CFM
Throttle body w/complete air intake installed (Air bridge to complete air filter with cover) = 397.0 CFM
Removed cover and Air Cleaner = 439.6 CFM
Removed Base (Only Air Bridge and MAF remain) = 448.7 CFM
This gives an idea of what modifications in the intake tract will do. There is power to be gained by reducing intake restriction, notice the 145 CFM or so reduction in flow with the air intake assembly bolted up.
For reference, a 347 cubich inch motor turning 6500 RPM with 100% volumetric efficiency (not likely except for full race motor) will pull in about 650 CFM of air. From the flow results, there is not much power to be gained going with a larger than 75mm ported stock TB. At 10" of H2O test pressure, you have only .35 psi of pressure difference.
For a big 427 stroker, there may be some power to be gained going with a 90mm or larger TB.
The moral is, spend your money on other things, just trying to give fellow performance enthusiasts a heads up.
Wow, awesome date. THere have been several guys asking for this information for a long time. Thanks for helping everyone out  Now we need someone to test the 90mm TB and maybe some aftermarket intakes. :yesnod:
Great data!! Is there any way you could test some of those carbon fiber bridges and smooth couplers to see if they help? That would put alot of claims to rest!
If anyone in the Houston area or close would be willing to bring by or ship any other parts, 90mm TB's, Air bridges, etc, I will test them and post it on this thread. It would be a good apples to apples test. Thanks,
