Sure it's not as pretty as the $100 ones but total cost around $15 and took me 2 hours to make and install. Still needs some minor modifications, shorter screws and a little trimming but overall not to bad I thought.

who'd pay $100 for that ?
have you ventured into the parts for sale section lately?? GP on screens for $99...people lining up.....not dissing any vendors because I buy everything I can thru forum vendors and I DO shop them for best price..I have no loyalties..I buy from (in no particular order) Extreme, LAPD, Fitchner, Vette to Vette, had my cam done by Norris.....but your right $100 is alot of cash for this mod...my other favorite is the $50 silicon couplers :skep: which is why I don't have one.
Do you have a hardware list other than the screen? How about dimensions of the screen?
Looks great BTW!
I bought the screen and aluminum rails at Home Depot..same section...same aisle as the nuts and bolts etc. its called expanded metal..used for grills etc. the screen comes in different sizes but the closest to what I needed was the 12 x 24..cost $8...the aluminum rails come in 3' lengths bought 2 at $3 and change each. I bought stainless screws and bolts for assy. The screen was cut down to 8" width and I bolted the screen to the rails and added a few bolts along the edges...screwed the whole thing in to the plastic underneath. Hardest part is cutting the screen as it is some heavy duty stuff

I dunno...I used some snips and it was pretty hard....not sure how a chop saw would do based on how hard it is and with all the gaps between each piece..might get kinda scary but I can tell ya the snips worked well but my hands hurt

I used black fiberglass window screen available at any hardware store. Works great have had it on my vette for over a year now with no issues. Removed radiator shroud and cut screen to fit with enough to reach back to bottom radiator support when reinstalled, added screws to bottom radiator support.
Your mod is sensational! But if I have to choose between spending time or money, it's usually goning to be money. The Clean Shield cost me $90 and took 10 minutes to install. My time with work, family and fun is worth more than the difference in cost. Perfect fit with no raw edges to scratch anything is key. Best,

It's your $$...I have no kids...I have $80 more dollars and no worry about scratching anything under the car....FWIW I donated the money I saved to the St Jude fund raiser
Technically, the 'screen' you used and bought from Home Depot is called
"Metal Lathe" and is used for stucco, masonry like river rock, etc... I bought a ton of it when I built a stone frieplace on my log home...

It looks the same but definetly more heavy duty...
