Sure it's not as pretty as the $100 ones but total cost around $15 and took me 2 hours to make and install. Still needs some minor modifications, shorter screws and a little trimming but overall not to bad I thought.

As far as looks go.. who cares you can not see it anyway.. the important thing is that it works... now your center spoiler will not flip if you hit something.. it is butted right up against the plate... you need to modify the spoiler or the screen...
I made one also, and its alot uglier than yours, but it works great and mine protects both the radiator and the AC condenser...and my spoiler rotates the way it should.. I am not trying to highjack your thread.. Just alittle engineering feedback...this one cost me 7 dollars at home depot and it's been there for three years...
Evil Twin, what you see is kind of an illusion...the spoiler will still move it's just the angle that I shot the pic from that gives it that look....I made sure the spoiler would still operate as designed :seeya
What is that material? Just heavy screen?
:banghead:
I think ET's is heavy screen...mine is metal grate they sell it at HD for about $8~ in a couple different sizes on the same aisle as nuts/bolts, metal strips etc. which is where I got the aluminum strips
I would love to see more pictures of this mod. Can someone show a from start to finish of this mod? Do you notice any decrease of air flow that would increase engine temps? This seems like a really good mod, why the heck didn't GM do it?
I love this DIY stuff. I haven't bought one of these because I thought $100 for a screen was a bit much (which is funny considering how much money I've spent on absolutely useless stuff). Who cares if it's pretty or not? No one should ever see it. Great job.
Way to go :hurray: :hurray: those $100 screens are way over priced. Andy fabed me up one when I put in the F1-R...very similar to yours....works great.
Looks great. I couldn't believe all the stuff we found packed up there when we had a mod party at a buddies house with a lift. EVERY C5 had crap up near the top of the radiator, leaves etc but I had a newspaper and one guy had a plastic bag that covered a large section of his radiator.
GM should have done this, the car is a bottom breather and the radiator needs to be protected.
That looks like a great DIY mod and worth the time and effort.
