I know it might sound silly, but I want to get something that will allow me to play with my fan settings only. Will the HPP (latest model) allow me to fiddle with the fan on/off settings without loading any other "tuning" stuff? Or... does it force you to download the flash from your car and upload the HPP program before you can do that? And if anyone knows of a more cost effective way to just change the fan on/off points without going to the dealer, looking for a tech 2, or wiring in some bandaid fix (don't want to wire anything: just want to change the values in PCM), please let me know.
Re: Quick Hypertech Power Prog. Question (mchaney)
Hi Mike!
Not sure how much the HyperTech unit is. The Predator lets you do that (and a ton more) for around 400.00. Take a look at Runninwiththedevil.com for info
Re: Quick Hypertech Power Prog. Question (Ragtop_Rob)
Pickup a used HypertechIII, you can do any or all of its programming features, I must say mine was well worth the $200 I paid for it. Just a fan controller will cost you $150 and has to be wired up, etc LS1 edit costs considerably more, Predator doesnt work on the older C5s, and is locked on the car its installed on. If I were to sell my car, I could deprogram and then sell my programmer for as much as I paid for it. Net cost zero...
Re: Quick Hypertech Power Prog. Question (mchaney)
It will change the fan settings and rev limit ,shift points" but some gear changes it want make correctly and Stay away from the Crappy Tuning! :mad :D
Re: Quick Hypertech Power Prog. Question (mchaney)
It is 'kind of' possible to do this with the Power Programmer (Part Number 30025). You can select only the Fan selection and not accept any of the other choices like Engine Tuning, Top Speed Limiter, Automatic Shift Points etc. However, you cannot select the exact On/Off temperatures. You simply select the type of Thermostat you have (160, 180, or 195), then the Hypertech calibrates the Fan temps for you. Thus if you want to make it 190 for example you cannot do that. T BALL
Re: Quick Hypertech Power Prog. Question (mchaney)
Mike,
I got a HPIII about 2 months ago and it will let you do individual items, though upload times are the same no matter how few or many you change--plan on nearly 30 minutes. I did fans and shift points only. Works great...
