Well I've put it off for a week in order to catch up on things around the house but last night I started to pull my tranny and the first thing I noticed was, when I drained the fluid it smelled like a house fire so I guess that proves the clutches were slipping badly
I've been waiting for the tranny to go I'm just glad it happened in reverse as I was backing into my garage :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:
I am more interested in how you fried a new A4 so quickly  from your sig looks like all you have is a SC? stock TC ?
Yes, for the last year I've been running just the supercharger and the stock converter but then I added a cam and 3.73 gears and that was all she wrote.
I'd say difficulty is a 5, the job is pretty straight forward. (depending on your mechanical ability, I'm a mechanic by trade)
1. remove the exhaust
2. remove the 3 bolts for the torque converter to torque tube
3. remove the rear suspension
4. with a support in position to hold the torque tube, place the tranny jack in position and remove the trans/rear diff as an assy.
For #1 it's pretty simple no big guess work involved and I left my headers bolted up, this took about an hour.
For #2 I had my wife click the ignition (with the coil packs and the injectors unplugged) until the bolts lined up and I could get to them, I actually removed 2 bolts this way but the third just didn't come into view, it would get close but never where I could reach it so I wound up pulling the plugs and rotating the engine with a crescent wrench, this took about 1 1/2 hours.
#3 is covered in detail by many different people who do a great job of explaining it, I believe Mike Mercury did a writeup on it as well as the LS1 how to website, this took about 20 minutes.
for #4 I had a floor jack in position when the rear suspension came out so once it was out of the way I put a jackstand under the torque tube and replaced the floor jack with the transmission jack, disconnected the 3 electrical connectors on the tranny and the one connector on top of the diff then I disconnected the shift linkage and remove the 6 bellhousing bolts and slid it back out of the way, this took about an hour.
So all together it took me about 4 or 5 hours (give or take)
Great information !
What plans do you have for the trany.
Will you be doing the rebuild yourself ?
Any after market parts to make it stronger?
Will you be changing the TC.?

I've ordered an FLP level IV tranny as a replacement and to go along with it I'm getting a Vigilante 2400 stall converter to compliment the S/C.
I also love to restore cars so I'm keeping my stock tranny and will rebuiild it in my spare time so that in 10 or 20 years when I get tired of playing I can restore this car back to stock with all of the original parts
