I am pulling the tranny to check and make sure everything is ok. . .while I have the tranny out, we are inspecting the shift kit.
The shift kit only allowed me to manually shift from 1st to 2nd. From what I understand, it should also allow me to manually shift from 2nd to 3rd. Also, it seems to me the 2-3 shift was not firm enough.
Any advice on getting the transgo kit setup would be much appreciated.
If you have the "automatic kit" you should be able to upshift or downshift from any gear. The 1-2 shift firmness is controlled by 1-2 accumulator washer settings; 2 or 3 washers in your case with stall conv. The 2-3 shift fimness at part throttle is controlled by the PCM in the "base pressure vs. torque tables." The 2-3 shift also has a little delay when manually shifting from 2-3. You should let the auto do the shifting by setting your upshift and downshift MPH values (LS1-Edit). To firm up the 2-3 upshift, set the base pressure values to 50 PSI "normal third" from 0-190 lb. ft. The tranny will shift almost as fast and firm as the 1-2 upshift.
I talked to Transgo about this and they suggested some larger separator plate holes but this did not help with 2-3 manual shifting firmness or speed except for WOT.
