X Pipe and resonance !!!!
Will an X pipe reduce resonance?(spelling??) The headers and cats I installed bumped it up a tad on mine.
Any thought or ideas would be great..

I have kooks with there high flo cats and x-pipe and GHL exhaust
I dont get any "resonance" but I do get more popping/gruggling than I would like. I like my system, but if I were to change something, Id go with a magnaflo x-pipe.

Yes, an X-pipe and I too like Mangaflow will turn the volume down 15 to 20%. The popping on deceleration is caused by the small hole in the H-pipe, which does serve a purpose. I'll take sound over purpose any day!

Corsa exhausts have no resonance in 6th gear. I have Corsa Indy's and the Dynatech long tube headers...sounds like a raped Ape in 1st to 5th gear, but very civil with no resonance in 6th.
An X-pipe may drop the resonance a little, but to get rid of it totally, you need an exhaust that was designed without resonance.

Fastb, yes. X pipe and( headers?) (if you have them) does increase resonance! It DECREASES popping and "smooths the exhaust note". But I think some members of this forum don't really know what resonance is, or maybe don't notice it, but you do, because you hear it and are asking about it.
The factory system is designed to minimize it. The after market systems, may or may not have resonance to some degree. I had new, perfectly installed and checked and rechecked Corsa Tourings on my MODDED car and EVEN it resonated, but remember, this is WITH THE MODS.
The STOCK catback also resonates with the same mods, just a little, like the Corsa does, so there is NO real cure, depending on your set-up. Also, I have heard people say, "my system doesn't resonate at all! " But the truth is, THEY just don't count THAT level of droning as resonance!
Hope this helps, just shift out of it, is a good cure.

TPIS long tubes, Randon Tech High Flow cats & X-pipe with GHL Bullets. I love the sound and the pop & gurgle makes the car sound like a true muscle car. WAIT - IT IS A TRUE MUSCLE CAR :D

Thanks guys.. I have little doubt they all make resonance to one extent or another. This just got a tad more than before.. Was lookin for somewhat of a cure..
I shoulda put an XPipe in fore anyway..
