O.K., I had Kooks, a 228 cam, and a few other goodies installed about 3 weeks ago. Upon returning home I added a K & N filter to replace the foam thingy in my vararam unit and a new Hi-Flow air bridge. So after a little bit of relearning on the computers part, it idles just like it did after the cam install. However, it seemed a little more sluggish to me, I figured it was probably just my imagination and I was just getting used to the new power and gears. Well now I have noticed an excessive amount of water out of the exhuast upon start up, as well as my polished Borla tips are completely covered in black after just a 20 or 30 minute drive. The area of garage floor behind the exhaust tips has black soot on it as well. Any thoughts from you guys. Yes, I am very engine/mechanically deinclined, my only thoughts at this point were that the new filter is letting less air through and maybe the car is running too rich now. Any suggestions would be hot. Thanks as always for any responses.
You can drive it and it will continue to adjust, it will just take time. You can also reset the PCM to force it to relearn faster or as was already posted you can get someone with LS1 edit to lean it out a bit for you.

Try the cheap and quick fix first. Disconnect your batery for about an hour then go out for a 30 minute mixed drive. If your key fobs don't work after that(memory loss) hold lock and unlock down unril you hear a beep to reprogram.
Just curious, what does this do exactly? Why would the computer learn any faster or better after disconnecting the battery? Don't misunderstand my questions, I REALLY appreciate the help and advice... I'm just curious as to what this does. Would my problem be solved if I just stuck the other filter back in? A supporting tuner did all the install and tuning on the car, I don't want to undo anything that they did there. I'm going to go ahead and give them a ring as well. thanks.
Here is what you may be experiencing: the bigger cam has much more overlap --- this is when the intake and exhaust valve are both open at the same time. The LT headers have much less back pressure, especially if you deleted the cats. With the lowered back pressure, at idle the intake A/F charge runs into the combustion chamber and right out the exhaust valve.
Have you noticed that your exhaust smells like gas at idle?
This is a common syndrome of cars w/ big cams & headers. You can tune w/ LS1 Edit until you run out of money, & lean your A/F mix to the max, but it won't have much effect on your idle.
