Default tire sizing and effects

what are the effects of using narrower tires vs. wider tires? example: stock c5 vs z06?

What are the effect of mixing the rims sizing (17front/18 rear) vs. same size all the way around (18")?

thanks in advance

What is that supposed to mean,, the way it looks? Or does it handle different? I think what he meant by "what are the affects" was Does it affect the handling of the car in a negative or positive way,, or not at all? I don't know since I don't have aftermarket wheels,,

But generally if you go up in rim size but keep the same width and outside tire diameter you should have minimal speedo error and slightly tighter handling do to less tire sidewall. Also the ride will seem slightly ruffer do to the less sidewall also. If you go to a wider tire,, it will oubviously stick better. Hope that helps alittle.

Heres a tire size calcualtor so you can see any affects the new size will have on your speedo. www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Yes it looks different. But cornering, launching and ride quality are all greatly improved.

Thanks for all the input. I am particularly interested in knowing the differences in handling and cornering with respect to changing wheel size for autocross.

by the way, "He" is a SHE.
