first-i got it from lapd on the gp[thanks shawn!]couldn't beat the price.installation was 30 minutes from start to finish.operationcomparted to stock shifter are night/day[stock shifter was like rowing a boat].took the car for a ride and am happy with the tension of the shifter, but for those who would like a softer/heavier feel, springs are supplied with the shifter to change the tension.yes there is more noise transmited through the shifter from the torque tube[note;i didn't install the pvc pipe caps to eliminate the noise because home depot was a zoo this morning]and i reinstalled the original **** for the time being[too light].i'm sure once i get a new **** and the rubber block off caps much of the noise/rattle will go away.for the time being i will just keep the radio up.
short and sweet,i would recommend the hurst shifter as it is a good mod[gp is on at lapd until may,be it the hurst or b&m].
I would like to add that I put the Hurst on my car about 3 weeks ago, only days after buying the car. I thouht it was a shame that the shifter was tough to use because it fealt like it had narrow gates or something. I had to be very slow, pricese and deliberate to find the gears.
Now that I have put several hundred miles on the shifter, it is VERY nice. The thing breaks in and becomes smooth and positive. Great upgrade, but if you don't give it a chance, you will think it is a PITA.
For a nice clean look that blocks out the sound, do what I did and stretch the boot down over the base of the shifter. You will have to break the little plastic ring on the rubber boot. I folded the boot down along side of the shifter base and it fits tight and seals perfect. I might take some pictures if you do not understand what I am talking about. You can use a screw driver to tuck it along the sides. Looks real good.

I did the same thing - and have no noise.
Are there pictures of the things you all are talking about that you did to make the Hurst quiet ? Had shifter noise in another shifter once, never again. ;)
Mine arrived with rubber caps ( 3 ea. ) that fit over the top of the shifter.
I'm using a momo cobra **** and it tended to rotate around a bit on top of the cap so I took about 3 wraps around the treads with electrical tape just below the cap. The momo **** doesnt thread on.
The shifter is silent :D
