Stainless Works Headers / Random Tech System Question
Is anyone out there running the Stainless Works headers with the Random Tech Cats/X-pipe setup? Was it direct fit and easy install? What were your gains? How is the quality of the Stainless work headers.
I have the RT setup for stock manifolds and want to cut the down pipe off and hook up the SW headers. I know the TPiS is a direct hook up, but really want to have "all" stainless. Any help from members or vendors would be great!
Thanks.
Re: Stainless Works Headers / Random Tech System Question (Airwolf)
This is exactly the set up I have on order and will be installed on my 01 Coup next month. I have baseline dyno #s and will post the new numbers along with comments after installation. I'll take pics as well.
Re: Stainless Works Headers / Random Tech System Question (Airwolf)
I have them and did my own install. It was a direct fit and was fairly easy to install. I had 316rwhp before and made 347rwhp after with an LS6 manifold. That's 31rwhp. I don't know what the gains were for the LS6 manifold. Maybe 7? The quality is excellent. They are built like brick $h!t houses and they are the lightest (so I'm told, but I might agree) package out there. The 3" midsection, xpipe, and cats sound awesome. Deep muscle car at mid throttle, and like a race car at WOT. This is through Corsa Indies though.
If you talk to alnoe - service rep for SW, he may be able to steer you in the right direction for your desires. You would need some sort of reducer/adapter because the SW collector is 3" and I think your downpipe is 2.5", and you would most likely have to weld it together, although the adapter may be clampable. If you go to their site, www.stainlessworks.net you might be able to find something in the online catalog to fit. It is pretty extensive.
Re: Stainless Works Headers / Random Tech System Question (Airwolf)
I went with the Stainless Works LT headers & intermediate pipes & X pipe with Random cats. It is a complete 3" exhaust system, where I think the stock exhaust is a 2.5" setup, so if you are keeping some of the original, there may be some hookup issues. My mechanic installed them, so I can't say much for the how easy it was to install. Their entire kit goes from the heads all the way to the over-the-axle pipe that feeds the mufflers. I don't have a dyno nearby, so I don't have before and after #'s, but the seat-of-the-pants felt a noticable kick, and it sounded fabulous!
Re: Stainless Works Headers / Random Tech System Question (GTC)
Hi Guys
Thanks for the comments. Our 3" center section WILL bolt to the 2 bolt flange in front of the rear axle, and will mate with a 2 1/2" exhaust system, so with the center section it does bolt on with no cutting and welding.
The headers do come with 2 adapter cones that neck down from the 3" header collector to the 2 1/2" h pipe. So if you just buy the headers alone you will get the adapters and band clamps.
Thanks again and let me know if you need anything.
