Well, I have been very quiet for a few months. School, work and all have kept me busy. I was talking to Lou about what to do next when I decided to just rebuild my stroker and go with a little more bore and bigger pistons.
Since Lou is in Dallas, I had a local guy do the machine work. We went back with the Lunati forged pistons, 4.125's this time. Everything else was fine, though we went with different seals and cut the guides back a bit. They were getting into the seals on one cylinder.
We went through the block and heads and they were fine. No problems with the sleeves etc. The cam was great, lifers and rockers perfect, but we are going with a different ring setup this time to make sure we get good seal. These motors make so much Crankcase pressure its rediculous.
Hopefully I will get it back this week, next at the outside and we should see close to the 550 RWHP number. It made 530 at 418 so who knows.
Very cool, bet you're excited to get your car back soon. It kills me anytime my car is down for too long.
Why did you deceid to upgrade in the first place? 530rwhp is a lot, I can't imagine all this effort and expense being worth 20hp?
Why did you deceid to go the solid roller route? Do you think with the FAST intake/90mm TB and stuff you'll be able to make more power than you would with a hyd. roller 427?
My car's at Lou's as we speak. Updated heads, FAST 90mm Manifold and TB, updated headers and 3" pipes, retuning. I too am hoping for those sort of numbers. Unfortunately, Lou's been a bit distracted so the car is together but not yet tuned. I'm running a 442/442/.610 cam; though hydraulic, it's pretty stout. Anyway, we'll see how the numbers come out when we get Lou to the dyno.

Yes, I am excited. I was burning oil really bad after a trip to Road America and I thought that I had cracked a head. We took it apart and tore it down looking for the culprit which turned out to be a seal. But I did bend a valve on a downshift at RA.
Since we had it apart we could do the pistons for not too much more and get the extra cubes. I always wanted a 427 instead of the 418 anyway.
I have always had the solid roller and I just bought the TPIS intake package before I took the motor apart so we should see some gains there as well.
Im having a solid roller 383 built for me and I can't wait. Just out of curiosity how often did you have to adjust the lash on your lifters with the solid roller? Any other things I should watch out for? Appreciate the help.

I bought Jesel's best adjustable rockers and I only had to set them once every 4-5000 miles. I would make sure that your pistons are relieved adequately for the setup you are using, and have them polished after they are fly cut or you will get hot spots. Otherwise, be ready for really fast ramp up. They rev up really fast.
Cheers
