The drag strip opened here in January, the first meet I ran 12.1 @ 112 mphs. The next three trips to the strip I have lost approx. .2-.3 in ET and 4-5 miles per hour in the 1/4. My air filter was dirty as could be, so I cleaned it, then I changed my spark plugs with no help. My best time Sat was 12.36 @107.4 mph, that mph is about 4-5 low. The times in the 1/8 mile seem very close to normal, the problem seems to be in the top end I guess. Nothing has changed from the first meet, what is wrong, I can't figure it out. I guess a dyno would be the next thing to do or a cylinder compression check.
Any ideas would be appreciated. :cry :cry :cry :cry
If your 60' times were about the same on all the runs... then you have to try & remember the weather when you ran 12.1 & the weather when you ran 12.4 Weather can mean .3 difference in ET The cooler it is the better, & Barometer also has a big effect on ET.. & MPH

DA is all improtant AL.........
Tell me the date and where you ran and I will give you an approx. DA for the day.
I have seen an easy .35 between a +1400 day vs. a -700 day :yesnod:
If the 60's are the same and seems to run the same...........can't be much

O.K. here we go:
Calispeedway in Fontana
Jan. 10, 5:00 P.M.
Jan. 24, 8:30 P.M.
Feb. 28, 7:15 P.M.
April 10, 7:30 P.M.
Los Angles County Raceway in Palmdale
March 21, 9:00 A.M.
Jan. 10, 5:00 P.M. 71.1 °F , 37.0 °F dew, 29% Hum, 29.96 in. = +854 D Density Altitude Calculation in Feet
Jan. 24, 8:30 P.M. 51.8 °F, 46.4 °F, 82%, 29.99 in. = -402 DA
Feb. 28, 7:15 P.M. 39.0 °F, 37.0 °F, 93% , 30.05 in. = -1383.6 DA GOOD AIR
April 10, 7:30 P.M. 57.9 °F , 57.0 °F, 97%, 29.94 in. = +127 DA
Los Angles County Raceway in Palmdale
March 21, 9:00 A.M. , 70.0 °F , 37.0 °, 30%, 30.08 in. = +648 DA
This does not take into effect the track elevation, just the weather.
So Al, if your 60's are close to the same your best runs should be on the - DA days.
How does it match up?

No DIC codes.................how many miles and how are the O2 sensors..........
Wife just told me her Y2K's check engine light just came on today........thanks Al  Gives me a good reason to get it into the 11s :reddevil
No codes, approx. 20K miles, 02 sensors should be fine, no codes.
Good Luck on your wifes problem!
Hum.........and it runs at WOT/idles the same?
LS1 edit tuning?........could be KR and pulling a little timing. Will not set codes and can't always hear it either.
JJs is just a PS cat, O2 sensor , leak or connection. I have FLPs so I have been wanting a reason to yank the cats :reddevil
After going back over all my track slips, my problem started when I changed from drag radials (315X35X17) (dia 25.7) to M/T ET Streets (26X11.5X16) (dia 26.2). The ET Streets are about 1" more in circumference and about 1/2" taller, I would not think that would be enough to cause me to drop 4 mphs in the 1/4, again maybe it would. What do you thinK??? Notice how the ET Streets really fill up the wheel wells.
:yesnod:  :yesnod:  :lolg: :lolg:
Al........ya didn't mention you had that swap goin on!
I knew I should asked that :banghead:
That is your answer
The dr's also are radials and roll better than the bias plys so ever little bit makes a difference. How is the weight of each tire/rim combo......more unsprung weight will also help kill mph/et.
The ET Streets are lighter than the radials... the size WILL make a difference... with 26.6" tires I was going 107 - 109 mph after I put on 28" tires my MPH went to 104 - 105 ...
I finally switched back to radial 26.4 (315x17) BFG & my MPH is back to 108..
I never had any idea the M/T would cause me to lose that much in mph and a little in ET's :mad :mad :mad Only compensation is that M/T's hook very consistantly.
The M/T weigh 12 lbs less than the 17X11 drag radials X2=24 lbs.
