Default Center console fitment after shifter install

I reinstalled the upper part of the center console that goes around the stereo. It fits pretty poopiety now. Now only does it not suck up to the radio tight on the top passenger side, the vertical part on the passenger side bows out a bit and doesnt go under the upper portion of the center console like it used to. Its not much, but enough to annoy me. It fit fine before, and I put it back together the way it came out> I recall reading something about this once, but cannot find it any longer. Anyone have any input?
thanks
Dave

I would bet at least 5 bucks that when you reinstalled the console you didn't get the two posts on the back lined up to go into their designated holes in the aluminum frame. If you're not careful when you put it back in, they'll lay over or bend ... the result is exactly the look you described. If they're badly bent or broken, you can glue some small paneling nails in the grooves of the posts - that way it'll line back up perfect when you reinstall.

Good Luck! :flag

is the alignment post plastic and a few inches from the top on the vertical part of the console by the radio? if so its in its hole as i took it back apart to see if i did something wrong.

That's one of them - there's two ... one on each side, but not at the same height. Actually, there's a 3rd piece (1/4" flat part - kind of like a small knife) down on the right side bottom of the console that slides into the dash. From what you've said, I don't think this is the issue though - I'm still thinking one of the posts is bent over ...

I agree with him. Check to see if you have both of them aligned. I have taken the consoles off probably a 100 times and when it didn't fit right that was always the problem. Don't get pissed at it. I messed one up because it was frustrating me. Good luck. Kaley
