...a quote from a Tire Rack technical representative (which was almost identical to advice given to me from two other TR reps:
"Based upon our comparison testing of HP tires, the GS D3s are definitely the better tires when compared to the Khumos."
I have not personally tested all the tires mentioned, but when three magazines and three Tire Rack reps tell me the Goodyears are better than the Kuhmos, I tend to believe them. Now if you want the least expensive tire, regardless of where it was manufactured or if it is tops in its class, then get the Kuhmos. To me, the combination of "Made in America" and very high ratings for both dry and wet conditions is worth the few extra bucks.
I'm keeping my C5 tire money in the US and getting the GS D3s.

Dunno about the GS D3s, however I'm more interested in the Nitto 555R & Nitto 555RIIs.
:lurk:
One of the things you have to be a little careful about is the car that these tires get tested on. The C5 is unique as it puts less pressure per square inch on tires than just about any car out there. (3300 lbs and very large cross section tires) with 51/49 weighting. That makes how tires respond somewhat unique to the C5.
I have the MX and just did two days at Road America with them. Very Impressed. Great traction, and didnt get greasy when pushed. Had them on a previous car as well. IMHO they are 99% the tire of the best on the market for far less $$$
BF Goodrich now makes the G-Force KD in the stock corvette sizes. For autocrossing and DE track schools, the KD's are an excellent tire on Corvettes--both C4 and C5. For dry traction they are equal to or better than the F1's. Not as pricey as the F1's but not anywhere as cheap as the Kumho's.
