About two weeks ago I replaced the valve seals on my '02 Z06. You will need two special tools:
* First you need an adapter that has the spark plug thread on one end, 12 to 18 inch length of air hose in the middle, and a air quick connect on the other. You will remove all of your spark plugs and use this tool, along with an air compressor, to inflate one cylinder at a time. This keeps the valves from falling into the cylinder bore as you remove the valve springs and seals.
* Next, you will need a tool to compress your valve springs in a controlled fashion, so you can remove the keepers, retainers, springs, and the old seals. I purchased a tool from Vinci Hi-Performance - www.vincihiperformance.com that allows you to compress both the intake and exhaust valve spring at the same time.
Yes, once you get that particular cylinder up to TDC and pressurize it with shop air, then take your valve spring compressor and remove the valve spring, once the spring is out of the way grab the seal with a pair of pliers and YANK on it
