Just went to charge Delco AGM, which is completely drained since i left the key in ignition turned to "accessories" for 2 weeks....and when i plugged in charger, underhood light started blinking...clicking sound started...and whistling sound was coming from somewhere in engine bay. I quickly pulled plug...clicking stopped, light went off, but whistling continued....until i stepped on brake pedal. Everything was hooked up correctly. Any idea what's goin' on?
Just a guess as to why the battery will not recharge: it may be discharged beyond help. As far as the noises go let's hope some expert chimes is ( pun intended).
How many amps was the charger cranking out? The optimum charge rate for an AGM is 20 amps. If you juice the battery with too little, strange things can happen.
I was thinking that you were using a 5-amp or less. I would try keeping the charger on for a while to see if the noises stop. I really doubt you can harm anything. With 15 amps, I'd say that the charger should be left on for at least a couple of hours. Of course, if it's an automatic charger, you won't have to worry about over-charging.
