i found what looks to be "decent" deal for a used C5 (white/gray, auto, 78K miles $19K). But, like all used cars has some problems. How much would it take to fix these
6-way power memory seats
-Seat back does not maintain position (flops back and forth)
-Drivers seat seems to roll foward at lights
Tire pressure sensor
-The car has upgraded chromed wheel, but obviously did not re-use or broke the tire pressure sensors
-Also keeps the display from showing the mileage
Power Mirrors
-Somehow, the mirrors no longer stay put. If you look at your there is a seam between the mirror housing/body and a connector piece. the whole mirror just rotates in this plane
The car is strong and shifts well, so the little problems are cosmetic put would keep me out of the C5...at least for another day or two.
I'd keep looking. The sensors are a convenience. But a faulty mirror and rocking seats could be annoying, if not dangerous. What year C5 is it anyway?
The seats are supposed to "flop forward, GM built em that way. to read the mileage you have to clear the DIC of the tire monitor message and I agree, look for another car. You should be able to find a low mileage( 30 -50 K mi. )
'98 for a couple thou more. Good luck

Part 1 - Seat back does not lock on any C5 to keep the recline mechanism from breaking when you put the seat back all the way.
Part 2- Rocking seat can be fixed by dealer for around $700, or look under tech tips for a do it yourself fix.

Tire pressure sensors are about $120 each, plus the cost of taking the tires off the rim and re-mounting. You can press the reset button to clear the display.

Not sure on this cost of this one....but between the rocking seat and tire sensors, you have over $1100 in repairs to negotiate out of the price.
What I mean about the seat back is that it flops backwards. That is to say that the only thing holding the seat up in the rear is the rear portion of the car. So that the more foward the seat is the more laid back the seat back is..

This is a link to a car being offered on this forum for 20.5K with roughly the same mileage and in better shape. I still think if you are patient you can find a good deal on a car with lower mileage. The problems you listed are just the ones you know about. I know about Corvette fever but you have to resist buying the first one that happens to be in your range. I bought mine last november in excellent shape, 50 k mi. for 22K with no problems.
Vettes are different than other cars in my estimation. I'll take a clean older C5 over a newer high milage car any day. The more milage on the chasis the more abuse it has had. These cars are usually enjoyed and driven harder than the family sedan. A low milage car has hopefully seen less WOT runs and if it looks well taken care of and has a clean CarFax report then put it on the lift for an inspection you'll do alright. You really don't want to start mod'ing a 78K mile C5. Especially if you don't know it history. keep on looking. These cars are strong but they are never the same after an accident. Make sure you don't buy one with any paint overspray anywhere. It's easy to fix maintenance items but impossible to correct for prior accident damage.
