I'm new to the forum and I have a 99 m6 with 4.10 gears. I drove a stock Z06 and was impressed by the full throttle acceleration at 4000 rpm. I would like my car to feel like this! What mods should I do first? This is my daily driver. I need the exhaust to be fairly quiet. I have considered LT's with Z06 mufflers, or no change in the exhaust with cam and heads only, LTs and cam only, or LTs with a just a blackwing. Suggestions are welcome!!
Thanks for any advice.
Go ahead and buy a motor from the Vette Doctors like the 418ci running 578rwhp and make that your first mod, believe it or not it will save you a fortune in the long run--other than that the 410s would have been my first choice--heads/cam and header package with the typical boltons (blackwing, ud pulley, exhaust system) and later add a clutch shifter maybe a couple of brake and handling goodies and it will be the perfect balanced street car--
You will notice we are all in favor of being done with it--it can be a nightmare--make a good plan and go with it--research every detail, and all the info is here, and do it--be happy with it---anthing over about 450rwhp is useless and believe me you can use up tires quickly with 450rwhp, above that and no tire made will let you launch and the biggest tires will be spinning through 3rd gear, anyone on the street will beat you--good streetable H/C header package with necc boltons and your are done--you will love your car--
Do a good proven head/cam/header package. I did this on my car and absolutly love it. Contact some of the tuners on the left and see what they would recommend for a mild, street driven package. You won't be disappointed. Kaley
May I suggest you take a look at CF SIGs/websites to get an idea. Make a plan, that way if you have to add a little at a time (like me) make sure they will all work together. If not doing the performance installs yourself find a reputable C5 shop in your area & have them do all the work. Make sure they are capable of doing LS1 Edit, too. IMHO, tuning is very important with LTs, Cams, Heads, etc.
I am about to pickup my o4 c5 and I have the same question. I have a bad history of modding a car until it is no longer streetable and then I sell it because I can't get to work without a headache :( I was thinking of keeping it basic, intake (probably dual cone because I like the look), exhaust.....after that it gets sketchy, perhaps an ecu tune or high flow cats and headers? Any suspension work? Shifter? Mainly I am looking for things that can be easily reversed for warranty work and easy on the noise :)
Also any thoughts on a great store to buy parts from?

Hey Pete,
I cannot recall the name but I believe a well known Vette shop is in Arizona. You might want to contact some other C5 Enthusiast in your area to find out the local C5 Performance shop.
