With the price of gas going up every day, and not wanting to park the Vette for the summer...as of yet!!! I was wondering if you drive moderatly easy, would there be any harm in using a fuel with less octane than the recommended 92? If you used the...say 89 octane and drove with some moderation, wouldn't the knock sensors retard the timing enough to take care of the detonation??? Just food for thought with the rising prices. Thanks! :seeya
Around here, in California where gas is the most expensive in the country we only pay $0.10 more per gallon for 91 over 89. $0.10 x 18 gallons is $1.80.
Assuming an average of 2 fill ups per week:
$1.80 x 2 fill ups per week is $3.60.
$3.60 x 4 weeks is $14.40
Is $14.40 more really going to make that much difference to you over a months time?
