Got a problem, need your help
Jacked the car up tonight for a peek. It appears to be coming from the rear end, in front of the cross member which has a coating of oil as does the spring.
Here is the funny part. There are two distinct spots. The one to the right of center is pink like ATF fluid (yes it is an A4). The one to the left of cneter is brown like heavy oil (rear end?).
I have been experiencing tranny slippage on the 4-3 downshift for about a month. I have an FLP level 4 with a blower and I just found out no vacumn check valve. Could the trans be leaking at the rear in the carrier. I only to need get to L.A. (400 miles) next week where Andy will be installing a level 5.
If it is the rear end I need to deal with it immediately. I don't want to fry my 3.73s. Here's another question. The bottom of the rear carrier, in about the center, between some heat sink fins has a hole. It appears solid up in the hole, not like a missing drain plug (which would be leaving a lot more than a drop). Is it a drain plug?
As you can tell, I am not mechanical. What do you think.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
