CAM SWAP WITHOUT TUNE?????????????????
How many of you have changed your cam without having it tuned? I'm getting ready to thow in carteks 3X cam, and wanted to know hows its going to run, or idle until I can get it tuned. I was thinking of road trippen to New Jersey and let the pros at Cartek do the tune but its about A 9 hour hike. It seems no one in the Detriot area has the correct program to tune my 98 C-5 (Dyno Dave,livernois etc...).
I see that after the cam install people are drilling A hole in te thottle plate (as per LS1 how to) which should correct the idle problem has any one got away with just doing this and no tuneing and is happy with there new cam?

It will probably run but your going to need a tune to get the most out of the motor.
How far is the Lingenfelter shop in Indiana from you - that may be a good alternative

I know the LG X3 cam in a stock Z06 motor only gained about 15hp and ran pig rich without a tune. With a tune, it is more in the 35-40hp gains running right at a 12.5-13.0 air fuel. I would say they all will definately need a tune to run well enough to go through the effort of the cam swap.

Anything over a 224 duration or so will need tuning after installation. If not you will probably have cold start/hot start/ surging...and other issues.

Greg at Livernois is waiting for new software updates for doing 98 ls1's computer?? he said it could be A couple weeks or months.
