Default Convertible Roll Bars

1)Anybody have any pics of a roll bar installed in a Vert? Can you alo comment on any pros/cons of having it installed.

2) Will the roll hoops pass for track days?

I've also considered a roll bar too. Actually IM'd Mean Green about his and if I get more serious about it I would talk to him about his. I know Wolfcraft makes some. Heres a web site. http://www.wolferacecraft.com/default.aspx
Looks however is also one of my concerns. Good luck. :seeya

The One (Joe):
Great looking set-up. Who did the work? Does the top still work without interference from the roll bar? Are the cross bars removable? How much was it?

Thanks guys. The top is operational and the door and center bars are removable. Actually, so is the hoop (refer to the pics. :) ) The hoop's never in the way, however, so I typically just remove the door/center bars - 2 bolts each/3 minutes of work total. The bar can be powdercoated to your liking. I tend to like the stealth approach, so I went with black. :D

With the door bars out, the interior looks stock. There's no bulky plate on the floor because the bar bolts to the side. The only negative thing is that the tonneau does have to be notched, but you can see by the pics how clean a job they do. The only way to avoid this is to mount the main hoop further forward in the cab, which limits seat travel. I have full seat movement and I don't have my noggin an inch from the main hoop.

Fabrication and installation was done by a well-known NHRA dragster chassis builder. Real Performance Motorsports in Lewisville, TX can hook you up. :yesnod:

Hey Mean Green. Thanks for the Vert Roll bar pics. That is a great looking set up. Where did you get that and can you send me the contact info for the shop? Also, what are the cons to the roll bar if any? Thanks

I would not want to be in ANY kind of side impact with that bar. It'll bust yer head open like a mellon. Why is it so far forward ?

Thats as far back as it ccan go and still have the top function. You can pad the side bars if you want. I did that on my car. :seeya

Not entirely true, the wolf bar sits well behind the seat of the coupe. I'm 5'10 and the wolf bar is a good 5''+ behind me so I suppose if are tall you and have the seat max'd that would be another thing. Also, the angle at which the bar is canted is a factor. I can see how a coupe bar could afford more angle than the convertible bar. I'm working on a project to use a wolf bar and make it an SCCA legal double hoop. Check out the picture and tell me what you think. :seeya

My wolfe bar in my z06 is also behind the seat but I have installed them in verts before and its different. If you want the top to still function thats how its gonna be. Im sure if there was another way they would have done it because the probably is quite obvious but thats the only way to keep the top working.

Somebody made/makes a setback rollbar that can rock forward to drop the top when it's in street mode. It was NHRA approved. I don't remember who it was from.
