Default Blower motor failure?

The blower motor/heater fan on the 2000 has ceased to operate. Checked the fuses, it doesn't operate in any mode, heater or a/c. Common problem? Any one else had this occur or can shed more light on this? Thanks.

I just got my 2000 coupe back on Tuesday for this. After checking as much as I could, took it to the dealer to get an opinion. They isolated it to the blower. Figured I would do it myself, but when they quoted only $223 ($123 for the part and $100 labor), I told them to go for it.

I searched the forum, and didn't find much on this, but apparently it does happen on occasion.

Common problem. Leaves and other debris gets down into the overflow tube and causes water to rust the blower motor assembly (nice design from GM, huh?). The motor on my '99 was making a loud screeching noise when the fan activated. I called Bob at Ken Fichtner Chevrolet Parts Dept. and ordered a new motor for $70 (I think) and installed it myself. The motor is located up under the passenger side footwell. A little tough to get to but it can be done with simple hand tools. Took all of about an hour to replace. Good luck!!!!!

Thanks - from what I understand, it's only covered for the 3 years and not under extended warranty - figures!

This sounds a lot like my problem....

I just called Bob up to get a replacement blower, but I have to get a number off of it before he can order it since there are two versions of the blower motor or something.

Now that you mention it, there are two different part #s, depending on when the car was built. You should be able to give Bob you VIN # and he can get you the right part. I went through the same thing. The different part numbers determine where the overflow tube connects to the blower motor. You'll get a better understanding once you remove it from the car. Just keep in mind, you can drive around without the blower motor installed while you're waiting for the replacement, but you'll have no A/C.
