Default Valentine 1 Power

Did a search on Valentine installs and have found several mentions (and a few pics) of the accessory wiring harness, but for all my trying, I can't find the damn thing on my '04 Z06 :banghead:. A couple of questions:

1) Is it there or have they moved/removed it for this year? If so, can you tell me exactly where it is (I just about ripped out the passenger toe box trying to find it)?

2) I did find a three-wire harness (red/black/yellow-ish) that plugs in right at the base of the glovebox, looking up from the toe box. Any idea what that harness does?

Many thanks!

It no longer exists on the 2004 cars. I found this out the hard way too some time ago.

There is a fuse adapter you can get to tap into the switched power.

You beat me to it. My V1 has been running great in my '04 with that install. It is a bummer that GM removed the spare accessory power wiring in '04.
Let us know if you have any questions or concerns with that setup.

Tony -

Ahhhhhh. Now I don't feel quite as stupid looking for something that wasn't there to begin with :bb . I'll check out that fuse block. Pretty good idea.

Be sure to find a switched outlet. The V1 draws 240mA (1/4 amp ) and will drain your battery in 4-5 days. I made that mistake on my 2003 Chevy Tahoe left in an aiport parking lot while on a business trip. Checked out the amperage draw on a meter.

I have had the Valentine 1 since I bought my C5 in 1997 and I bought all the componets to install it into my car but I've never installed it becasue it works fine on my visor and I can always use it in my other cars if needed. The Valentine 1 is by far the best radar detector that I've ever had. The warning is so much ahead of time you could crack open a beer and drink it before you ever seen a cop but I wouldn't recommend it. :nono:
