Belt pulley squeak again...tips??
Pulley is acting up again, after 2 replacements. Has anyone ever tried to lube the pulley instead of replace it? What's the latest on this gremlin?
Re: Belt pulley squeak again...tips?? ($$$frumnuttin')
there are two belt systems... the drive belt system and the A/c belt system.. both systems have both a tensioner and an idler pully... first you have to determine which belt system is the problem.. If the sqeak is really noticable simply remove one belt.. start the car and see if that is the belt system.. ( you wont hear the noise )... one you determine which system it is... you should replace both the tensioner and the Idler.. each has a sealed bearing . I doubt if a new tensioner would be bad.. I suspect the idler...
Also. On the drive belt system.. there are three other bearings that could be a problem... the water pump bearing, power steering pump bearing, and the alternator bearing..
ON the AC belt system, you have a tensioner, and idler, and the compressor..
Also dont forget the belt itself...
I hope this helps///
