I was told to post this in the tech section. I've had my 2004 Corvette for about 5 months now. The dampener springs on the clutch rattle a lot (worse than any others)at low rpms under acceleration. GM tells me this is a problem with all of them. They have offered to buy an aftermarket clutch and install it for me(voiding the clutch warrenty), does anyone have any suggestions for what type of clutch to buy...and has anyone else experienced this problem? I am going to replace it, I just need to know what is best. Thank you in advance.
I also have a 2004 C5, but haven't experienced this problem (knock on wood). If I were to upgrade to an aftermarket clutch that doesn't require any modifications to the slave or master cylinders or upgrade, which has received many positive remarks from various types of users on the forum (street, track, etc.), I would go with the Exedy Single Disc Clutch. Just my .02$. It costs a little more than some, but you get what you pay for.
We have been using the LUK Pro Gold Stage 2 clutch with the Fidanza aluminum flywheel with excellent results. Luk is the O.E. manufacturer of the C5 clutch. The Pro Gold series is designed to have 25% more clamping force than the stock. The disc is of organic material with 4 large dual springs on the hub. The pedal pressure is stock and very smooth engagement. The stock flywheel weighs 24 lbs, vs. the Fidanza 12.5 lbs. You would be very satisfied with this unit. We have them on special for $750 plus shipping and taxes. Call us if we can help. We are open Tues-Fri 830-530. We have these in stock ready to ship.

I'll vouch for this setup. I ran two AutoX courses this weekend on this clutch setup. oh yea! You will NOT be disappointed. Responsive and smooth. It did firm up a bit after ~150 miles, which is good; it put it right at the stock pressure feel. During that prior 150 miles it felt a bit "light". I didn't make any changes to master/slave cylinders.
HI guys, LUK was recommending that C5's from 97-00 upgrade to the 02 Z06 Clutch master, and replace the hydraulic slave also. They said the hydraulics are better, but I have heard people not changing them and having no issues. Hey you have gone this far, you might as well elimate all of the potential problems at once.
VNAMVET, Yes, out of state NO TAX. :seeya
rarfinancial: Now hopefully you are not hearing the typical 6 speed rattle we all have. I am not sure if it is the damper springs or the internal parts of the transmission.
TT_VERT. If you do a search for sticking pedal, you will get many different answers. Even the dealers cannot give you one specific answer, they just repace everything. Go figure.
