A friend of mine toasted his stock C5 clutch at the track yesterday. He has a 2000 FRC with TPIS headers, RT cats & xpipe, LS6 manifold, and TI catbacks. The car is making around 400+ crank hp. He is looking for something streetable but able to hold up to a H/C install in the future, maybe 500 crank hp.
He is looking at the McLeod single disk/alumium flywheel combo. I went on their site but could get no rating info on their products there. Also, looking at the SPEC Stage 3/2 hybrid. Does anyone have info on this or the McLeod you could share?
Also, any other suggestions
I have not had a lot of luck with the LS1 Mcleod clutches. Granted, I have not used them in a while, but when we did, I was not enjoying them...
The SPEC clutch is an excelent clutch and will hold up to just about whatever you can throw at it(StageIII). The SPEC II is a little more forgiving off the start, but it will not hold up quite as well. For an average heads and cam car though, I think the hybrid would be an excelent choice.
If you need some assistance in getting this clutch, give me a shout! We would be happy to help.
Thanks,
