Trans. temps
What is considered normal operating temps. for an A4? I recently had the rear end swaped and put in a 3.42, at the same time I had the torque conveter upgraded to a Yank 3000. The intaller said they had to add 4.5 quarts of ATF. Want to make sure with out getting under the car that I have enough fluid and am not running to hot. I have read within the last few days that member are have trans. problems after this kind of install. I've driven 550 miles with the new set-up and no problems yet. Should I be worried?

With a higher stall converter, it is never a bad idea to get a tranny cooler installed as well. Just keep an eye on the temps. If they start getting above 240 or so, definitely install a cooler.

Get it checked DO NOT take a chance you will burn up transmission. To check get the car level(working in oil change pit is great) start car get fluid up to 120, remove drain plug on side of pan, the way you validate fluid level is that with car running in park and fluid is to run out of drain/fill hole.

The level is critical. If you refill the tranny cold you will be 8 oz. overfilled. I did this once rather than heating the tranny fluid up. The 1-2 shift was loose. After following the shop manual (operating temp) the tranny then shifted tight and firm.
