Why bother when you can buy one for 50 bucks. Unless, of course, you're going into the business of selling them. :confused:

Email jmX. He was the one who designed one of the latest CLB's. Hopefully he's around to answer.

Phillip;

all I could find:
forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?&id=814959&postid=1547251030

"Apply a momentary 12v to the lock motor to cause it to retract. Essentially resetting the servo motor"

I doubt Jon is going to tell you how to build it. Him and I talked about it a lot when he was doing R&D. Sorry, I'm not going to let the cat out of the bag. :leaving:

I will tell you this, you probably wouldnt be able to build it this weekend anyway because one of the parts is not commonly available.

If you study the service manual, you can figure it out.

The CLB won't unlock your column though even if you did know how to make it. You need to get the column unlocked first, as all you're doing is unplugging the motor, and inserting a plug into the harness to send the proper signal to the BCM to basically fool it. Functionally speaking, it's no different than a CAGS plug or 02 sims.

The fact is, anyone can unplug their column lock motor (when already unlocked) and share the same results...the CLB's only function is to eliminate the "service column lock" error msg which you will get if you simply unplug it in it's unlocked state.

:cheers:

Phil, your best bet is to try and get the column unlocked by yourself. A trick that the tech gave me was to insert a small metal rod (1/4 ratchet extension) into the small hole on the underside of the column which does NOT have a screw in it. This is basically the bottom of the locking mechanism. Hit the extension with a hammer a few times and that should jar the motor enough to make it unlock.
