Default it didn't last long. must read.

Well after 4 months with out my car got motor back about a week ago and put it in. All went well followed break in procedure and everything ran great except car needed to be tuned it was running rich. I use the word was because the motor is seized now. I was on the free way tonight and got on it a took it up to about 6k (keep in mind i did break in procedure to a t) out off no where a clunk and crash and my car is slowing down motor off i push in clutch and coast up a exit ramp. Tried to start again won't even crank starter tries to turn but seems like motor or something is locked up. Called AAA they come put it on truck and thats when I see the oil on the ground. No oil or anything behind on the ramp only oil where it was just sitting. Look and oil plug and filter are still in place. When car was droped off and i get in to put key in so we could push car low coolant come up on dic. i look under the hood again everything looks fine except it looks like there is coolant puddleing in right side motor mount area. I am at a complete loss as to what happened i can't even describe how angry i am now. 4 freaking months ago i decided to do heads and cam that didn't work out order new motor have to wait about another 3 months for it and a little over a week after i get it it appears as though it is done. I love Vettes so much but to be honest after hours and hours of work on it and and pouring out my own sweat and blood working on the stupid car i am sick of the dam thing it pisses me off just looking at it. Anyways i pretty sure this will be my last post for a long time.

Let us know who completed and installed your motor. That should not have happened with a new motor regardless of whether you broke it in or not. A bad ring seat would not have caused that. Something wasn't installed correctly...it almost sounds like your timing chain came off or something..but you are saying that the motor will not even crank??? Sounds like you threw a rod. if you see coolant and oil on the ground. Somebody seriously F'd up..let us know who it was so we can monitor how they treat you.

I Know BlackBelt personally, hell i was there for the first H/C install, and the New Motor Install. There's enough of my blood and sweat in this car and garage floor to be considered family. I was going to do a cam swap on mine but feel discouraged now. Dude That Sucks... You know you can take mine out anytime.

yeah i am one of blackbelts closest friends, i was there for the H/C install, and the new engine install, i helped work on the whole time, i am almost as pissed off as he is, i feel the motor was built like crap in my opinion, oil was very low all the time on this motor, i am saying like 20-25 psi, at high rpm, where mine is almost pegged at 80psi at high rpm, i think he threw a rod in my opinion.

That is a good way to handle things.. Speaking as a tech and business owner.. things can happen, accidents, mistakes... hopefully who ever did the work, will work with you on recovering from this loss.. reputations are hard to build and can be destroyed easily. This is why, I put alot of pressure on myself to keep my customers happy, and to resolve potential issues before they occur..

[b]Let us not forget the ordeal BLACKSUN had in getting CERRA to accept ANY responsibility for not testing the valve springs which caused his Turbo to have all sorts of lack of power issues and the hot-side turbine melting his hood as well...

He was obviously 'Customer Zero' for *that* Turbo kit, despite CERRA's representations they had done those kits before... =;-]

We need to remind ourselves this site exists FOR and IS funded by tuners and vendors, so as to get the maximum frenzied excitement about speed parts spread by testimonials of credulous Corvette owners and not a few trolling wannabe C5 'owners'.

So if you had a problem with a fancy tuner or quoted him saying something contrary to the 'air filter/shorty header/loud exhaust/160 degree t-stat/teflon spray that makes you invisible to radar and laser guns and gives you 40 more RWHP' official party line, you must never mention his name, since he might lose business selling what would have been called 'snake-oil' in simpler times...

Corvettes appear to be at a 'sweet-spot' in price, cheap enough that most who have a decent job can afford one, and then can spend lots of money chasing more 'performance' which is where so many vendors of questionable products crawl out from under the rocks to soak in the rain of dollars coming from above...

I mean, even DuPont is letting Fram advertise their 'Double Guard' oil filter with the Teflon [PTFE] trademark displayed, despite all their hollering about PTFE being useless for oil additives until they got sued for restraint of trade by refusing to sell PTFE to the oil additive makers... DuPont also markets spray bottles of Teflon 'invisible' body coatings that do only God knows what.

Having said all that, I am happy with my Z06, with a works Vortech V-2, Guldstrand T-1 and 3 gallons of Xylene; the only thing I have added that does not make the car go faster is the 'mushroom' radio antenna...

[actually it's a pewter drawer pull **** from Home Depot for $1.79... =;-]

update..

Pulled valve covers off today to check to see if springs where compressed when i loosened the rocker the springs came up and everything looked good. don't think it was a head problem but will see soon. What didn't look good was the oil cap and filler and oil in right side head. It looked like spoiled milk from the oil and coolant mixing. I will take pics as soon as possible and maybe someone can post for me.

hmm....blown head gasket???

Good luck.

20psi on the oil reading is not good under wide open throttle.

Just wondering, what happened during the H/C swap? I did a cam swap about 10,000 miles ago and have not had any problems since.

During the first H/C swap, if i remember correctly we dropped a valve-seat and destroyed 2 pistons and a set of heads. On this Motor The heads and Cam were installed and degreed by the Builder. We just dropped the motor...
