The stock TB is good for 550 HP, by porting it, you usually find better low and mid range touque and better response from the throttle. Once you are making upwards of 500 HP, it might be an investment option, till then, cold air, headers, cam and tuning would be your best bet.

FYI, you can make most of those old links you might have bookmarked work by changing the zerothread?id=xxx to showthread.php?t=xxx.

I just installed a Halltech Ported and Polished throttle body, and noticed a better throttle response. I don't know what power I picked up, if any, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

It think it is not worth the money. I only did this to complete the intake mods. I did not notice a difference on my Corvette or my Trans Am.

I am in the process of sending a throttle body to Mark Shaner. I picked up a used one for $100. For $250, I am going to roll the dice and hope for the best since I haven't decided whether I want to crack the motor open at this point.

Vararam has been saying this for at least a year. How great their new throttle body will be and that it will be out "next" month. I am a big fan of their VR-1B air intake and hope their throttle body lives up to the hype.

I am skeptical that the new throttle body will make that much power if any above a stock unit. However, if Vararam makes a throttle body that shows a 15rwhp improvement over the stock unit and costs under $500.00 then I'll buy it.

A 346 motor is only going to see 15rwhp to 20 rwhp from 90mm intake and throttle body.

I am hopeful they can pull it off with just a throttle body but I don't see it happening

Personally, I don't think the LPE unit holds a candle to Mark Shaner's work.

Do it yourself. I did mine when I installed the vararam so I dont know how it will react with only the porting but with the 2 I love it. You do get a better response. Its not hard to do I did mine with my dremel tool. I can send you photos if you like step by step.. It takes about 3 hours and its free. I looked at some web-sites that do it for around 200 nd compared mine to theirs and mine was twice as good. Plus I closed off the pcv air slot and ran it through a little k&n filter so the motor is getting alot more air. So, I sy do it yourslef and again I can send you photos if you give me your email. Good Luck
