I have been waiting to post until I had a few miles and track time on my new Exedy Twin Disc clutch. This clutch is unbelievable.
First thing I noticed was a stiffer pedal which around the 1000 mile mark has softened a great deal. I really like the pedal feel and I know exactly when this clutch engages and disengages.
Next thing I noticed was the high release and engagement point. Some may not like this but once again I love it. It has helped considerably on my 1/4 times with much quicker shifts.
The shifting is a 1000% better as well. The shifting is butter smooth as compared to a very notchy feel from the factory.
Last but not least is the holding capability and street driveability. I have approx 25-30 passes on the track with various launchs as high as 6500 and this clutch has not even wimpered a bit. I also drive this car quite a bit on the street and whether in traffic or not there is no chatter, noise and is very smooth.
I beleive the most important part of this clutch was the customer service and advice I received from Tom @ Carolina Clutch. I spoke with him at length 2 different times before deciding to go with the Exedy unit. Tom spent alot of time with me asking questions about my car and use of the car to make sure I was purchasing a clutch which would handle my needs. I wish every vendor I spoke with was as helpful and easy to deal with. I also found out several of the vendors on this site are supplied by Carolina Clutch so I dealt with him directly. I purchased the Exedy twin, slave and external bleeder line as a package deal. The external bleeder line is a god send. Anyone with a clutch need or question on our vette's should give him a call. 888-462-2739 http://www.carolinaclutch.com
I am having an Adjustable Master put on mine. I don't like the engagement so close to the top. With the stroker, it seems slightly harsh to me. Just as it engages and starts to propel the car I run out of pedal and the clutch GRABS like a ****. If I had slightly more pedal to slip it I will like it more IMO...................it holds though....no doubt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
